How to press toward the mark God has set for you?

A youth shared he covers 100m in less than 12s. That is fast! How did he get there? Gruelling practice, diet restrictions, advanced exercise routines, and diligently maintaining a regimen.

He was always excited to talk about the trials and temptations he had to overcome to get this far. He believed he could better the speed with more rigorous practice.

There was no time for a girlfriend or wasteful friendships. He was determined to make it to the nationals. He knew he would get everything else once he made it to the main event.

His commitment to what he loved was inspirational. He was willing to give up all now to have a brighter future. He was pressing on for a higher level.

Press toward the mark God has set for you by faith

God directs us to press toward the mark (Philippians 3:13,14). Pressing on is the action that reveals our agreement with God’s word and clear guidance for our lives. Pressing on is a Call To Action for what God designed us.

While the youth pursued a temporary goal, God called us to run after His heart and receive our eternal reward (Jesus).

  • When you love God, your actions will speak louder than words.
  • Noah's action spoke louder than words when he pressed on despite the mocking opposition.
  • Moses pressed on for 40 years to return to Israel.
  • Joseph pressed on 20 years to be free from bondage.
  • Ruth committed and stayed faithful till the end.
  • Esther did not give up as she and Israel pressed on in prayer.

We can go on, right? Faith helps us press forward. The soldier puts on the shield of faith to move forward in battle.

With whatever strength we have, go forward. No strength? Surrender your spirit in prayer and call out to God. Get filled with His Spirit that brings strength. The Holy Spirit will drive you forward onto victory. Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
