Who Is A Good Friend?
Are you a good friend? Do you have many friends or only a few friends? Who are these friends? As a believer, are you living like the worldly, depending on friends? Or, are you trusting in God like Jesus?
Jesus did not have any friends. The world hated Him. His own disowned Him. Almost all of His followers betrayed Him. Despite all of that, He gave His life to save us all.
WHAT MAKES A FRIEND GOOD?
A friend loves at all times (Proverbs 17:17).
The true friend willingly gives his life for his friends (John 15:13)
A friend sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24)
A friend corrects with love and concern (Proverbs 27:6)
His counsel is hearty (Proverbs 27:9)
Iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17)
None of the above qualities is possible without walking in Jesus.
King Solomon said woe to him who does not have someone to lift him (Ecclesiastes 4:10). Jesus had no one to lift him but God and the Holy Spirit. Jesus has left us an example by showing us how to depend on God alone as we learn to walk righteously and uprightly in Him.
I have found a friend in Jesus
He's everything to me,
He's the fairest of ten thousand to my soul;
The Lily of the Valley- in Him alone I see
All I need to cleanse and make me fully whole
Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
