How To Solve The Generation Gap Problem?

“My parents do not understand me.”

Believer children, mostly, often think their spiritual parents don’t get them. What is commonly know as a generation gap. What is this gap about? A difference in opinions or beliefs or values.

We live in a world where the culture keeps changing based on current fashions or trends. When the majority do not want to believe in God and do their own, differences will occur.

Mankind cannot be united if everyone thinks however they want. If two don’t agree, they will be divided. There needs to be a unifier. A foundation of truth that stands firm, established and settled to do a perfect work personally and collectively.

How to bridge this generation gap?

This gap is a ‘sin’ gap. It can only be bridged by the blood of Jesus, the word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit.

When two are rooted and grounded in the word of God, there will not be any kind of gap concerning lifestyle on earth. The younger will walk in subjection. The elder will guide in humility.

When youth are willing to learn from their spiritual elders, a great transformation takes place in the church or fellowship. God has set an order for the world. The word of God reveals the mind of God. The spiritually mature are to lead the weak in faith, in love.

Paul's instructions to Timothy are clear; though Timothy was a younger apostle, the instructions apply to all believers as well.

Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
