Desire To Be Rich In Christ Alone

Most believers in developed nations think God wants everyone to be rich materially and financially. They go to the extent of claiming that Jesus lived a wealthy life. It's a pity that so many Christians remain deluded by the deceitfulness of riches.

Does God want you to be rich?

Yes, IN HIS CHARACTER. Not necessarily material or financial. He makes rich those He feels need to be rich. We belong to Him.

Being content with food and clothing reveals spiritual maturity (2 Timothy 6:6-10). Today, fewer people pursue godliness. True godliness only desires and pursues God's will.

What's heartbreaking is those who pursue riches desire it at the cost of their relationship with God.

  1. Israel desired riches at the cost of their obedience to God. All kinds of lusts followed.

  2. Many want to be rich, like Joseph, but without going through all that suffering for the sake of Christ.

  3. Some want to be rich, like Ananias and Sapphira, without consecration.

  4. Some others, like Gehazi, want to be rich without serving diligently.

Don't be deceived. God cannot be mocked. What you sow, you will reap. Sow in the Word and Spirit to reap everlasting life. All else is temporal and death.

Jesus is your example. Stay Humble and lowly at heart, whether He makes you rich or provides all your needs.

May God help us all. Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
