Seek quick understanding to guard your heart from evil

A foolish heart does not delight in understanding anything good. A foolish person wants his heart to discover itself. (Proverbs 18:2)

"I don't know, let's see how it goes", while knowing this isn't the approved way. What fruit will such discovering bear? Deeper sinful natures and burdened by growing hopelessness.

Man ate the fruit he was commanded to avoid by God. Man still went ahead and indulged in conversation that fed his curiosity. He let his heart discover itself, leaving him in sin and hopeless. Man became opinionated. He had to now figure out life on his own because he became separated from God.

Dinah, the daughter of Jacob, left home alone because she was curious about how the women were in a strange land. (Women love to know about other women. They are the top users of social media today). Dinah could not control her curiosity. Following her heart's desire, she ended up getting defiled and bringing about the death of the men of the land.

Guard your heart to protect yourself from getting carried away by the devices of the devil

When our heart lacks training by the Word of God, it leads to self-pleasure. We grow opinions that sound smart but do not conform to the word of God. The heart goes against the wisdom in God's word to do its own will.

Jeremiah pointed it out perfectly when he said the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked: who can know it? (Jeremiah 17:9).

We are created and designed to manifest God's glory and praise. When we start meditating on the beauty of praising and thanking Him, a whole new world of understanding opens up.

A wise heart pours himself daily into the word of God. A deliberate, intentional act because he finds it delightful. Do you enjoy the word of God? Is Jesus your greatest delight? Get yourself ready. Jesus is coming soon. Praise God, and Amen.
