Why Do We Get Easily Overcome By Sin?

Most other language translations do not have these words, 'easily' beset us, mentioned in Hebrews 12:1.

Why is it important? These words make it clear that we are 'easily' overcome by weight and sin. It reveals our inability to fight against spiritual forces without God's help.

It is a call for humility and a lowly-hearted walk before God. (Matthew 11:29)

Three reasons why we get easily overcome by weight and sin are;

  1. Our doings (Hosea 7)

  2. Not leaving the father's house (Judges 19)

  3. Old natures (Psalms 22:11-13)

Israel committed falsehood, did not consider God's ways, and mixed with godless strangers. They became lawless because of their doings or choices.

The Levite concubine got angry with her husband and returned to her father's house. When the husband went to collect her, she was raped and tortured by evil men. Later, she was cut into pieces by her husband. (Read Judges 19). If she would have stayed with her husband, this evil would never have befallen her.

Bulls of Bashan refers to inner rebellious natures - also, the spirit of money (Baal = Bull). Ravenous lions refer to Satan's targeted attacks on people because of a lack of self-control. Satan preys on those who reveal anger, hatred or bitterness.

There is enough evil for each day, and the above three hindrances, if kept unchecked, will result in us easily falling into sin.

Gear up in Christ, and give room for the Holy Spirit. Let God glorify Himself in and through you.

Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
