Who is a bastard according to God’s Word?

Are you a bastard or a child of God?

Bible teaches us that those who hate correction are not God's children but bastards.

We should not lose hope when we go through various trials in life. Jesus died and rose again so God could have us back for Himself.

  • Being scolded by an elder.

  • Persecuted by near and dear ones.

  • Neighbours turned against you.

  • Satan may have gotten you sick.

Whatever the reason, keep the faith and do not lose hope.

A loving child knows his parents. No matter how much they correct him, he will never leave them. It's hard to take the correction initially, but one knows that love is never lost.

The prodigal son knew that his father did not hate him. Do you think God hates you after dying on the cross for you? Impossible!

A bastard walks out on his teachers or elders. He is arrogant and refuses to learn.

  • Lot refused correction and gave birth to an arrogant people, the Moabites.

  • Absalom, King David's son, rejected his father's authority.

  • Israelites who married outside of the faith or indulged in unnatural bodily transformation were considered bastards and not allowed in the assembly.

A bastard is one who rejects the word of God

When we reject the word of God, we become bastards. God is our Heavenly Father, after all! Why would anyone who tasted Him and known Him as good reject Him? Rejecting God after knowing Him requires force. Rebellion and stubborn natures are forces of evil.

The New Testament ministry is only for those who wholeheartedly surrender to God's word. Past physical or spiritual wrongs against God's word, when repented of, are not a hindrance.

Desire the character of Christ in your life. When we ask God for His nature, we face opposition that tests godly character. Don't hate the person God brings to you. No relationship is a coincidence.

Be a child of God and accept godly correction. Trust God. Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
