What Is Worship?

Did you know that Worship is the highest form of praising God?

Yes indeed, it is!! The hebrew word for worship is Saghah pronounced as Soukhau. It means to prostrate and fall before God. The word Worship is also derived from another word — Worthship meaning to praise a person who is solely worthy of it.

This was how even King David worshipped, by laying himself flat on the ground before the Almighty. The act denoted not only physically humbling oneself completely, but it also meant a total surrender to God, from the heart❣

  • Worship begins from the depths of the heart, out of deep meditation — remembering of all the goodness, mercies and graces He has bestowed upon us in the past days. We must have noticed when gathering for prayer, sometimes the mind begins drifting and wandering away🙂 This happens because there is lack of unity between the spirit, soul and body.
  • Worship is a reasonable service, a living sacrifice out of a broken and contrite heart, that we offer to God. King David could offer such a sacrifice because he preserved his heart in such a state and therefore his psalms are full of praises to God. Let our hearts be grateful to God always.
  • Worship is an overflowing experience of love. David says Thou anointed my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Psalms 23:5. He experienced God’s mercy and love throughout his life.
  • By worshipping God we fulfill His commandment and are blessed thereby. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us. Psalms‬ ‭67:5-6‬.

When we offer praises and worship God willingly with all our heart, definitely there is a blessing in store because the best praises bring the best blessing.

Be blessed 💕
