What is the condition of a believer bound by jealousy?
Are you bound by jealousy? Jealousy triggers murderous natures, decays our spiritual understanding resulting in a lifestyle that restricts believers from enjoying the presence of God.
Carnal Mindedness
“For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?” (1 Corinthians 3:3)
A carnal person is given to the things of the world. He does not understand what it means to walk in Christ. He is a nominal believer who lives according to the philosophy of the world and not of heaven. The lack of spiritual understanding keeps him in the former state instead of growing in godly character or sound doctrine. He fights and disputes like worldly people, focused on gaining reputation and status in the world rather than be Christ-like.
Confusion and evil works persist in those bound by jealousy
“For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.” (James 3:16)
Since a jealous man is living in carnality, he remains confused about godly matters. God is not the author of confusion; Satan is. the lack of vision or biblical insight concerning his Christian walk makes him vulnerable and end up doing evil works.
Questions and Strife arises
“He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,” (1 Timothy 6:4)
A jealous man is a proud man, always questioning authority and arguing over matters.
What happens to those stay envious and not want to change? God let’s them do what they want; that’s never a good thing. When believers, knowing God, indulge in evil, it becomes dangerously harmful for our spiritual life.
“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.” (Romans 1:28-32)
God’s mercy is everlasting and always available for those who repent. We need to be careful that we do not stray so far away causing a hardness in our hearts leading to a state of non repentance. Looking to Jesus is the best solution of all of life’s problems.
