How To Walk In Godly Jealousy?
Godly jealousy is different from the jealousy we are all so familiar with. Why are people usually jealous? Because they want something you have or want to be who you have become, but cannot.
Jealousy is mostly used negatively, but when we understand it in light of God’s word we can see how it’s used as a positive. There is a godly jealousy that’s life transforming.
Godly Jealousy is a need for believers
Paul reveals his jealousy for his flock.
“For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 11:2
God is jealous about His people. God expressed His love through Jesus to make us His very own. Only His. We belong to no one but Jesus. Every human being belongs only to God.
Jesus alone can present Himself as an exclusive truth, and person, for every believer. It’s because He presents Himself as our only necessity in this world, believers are able to join as one, in spirit and in truth. Let that sink in.
God created us for Himself. His love for us was so pure that He even gave us full freedom to choose whatever we desired, so we don’t feel controlled but can submit ourselves consciously and conscientiously to do His will.
Since day one, Satan has been plotting to destroy mankind from receiving what he desperately craved for, but can never have. Satan hates the fact that weak man is going to inherit the incorruptible throne of God.
Israel provoked God to jealousy when they went after strange gods. When we as believers go after literal or spiritual idols, we end up snatching away what belongs to God. We belong to God, and none else.
Let love be with godly jealousy that powers your walk with God. Be filled with the love of God, for the things of God. Jesus is coming soon. Praise God and Amen.
