Obedience and Faith
What is the relationship between faith and obedience?
WHAT IS OBEDIENCE?
It is faith in action.
God called Abraham, and he left his past life obeying God's call. Jesus called each of his disciples, and they followed Him. The disciples left all to follow Jesus.
HOW TO GROW IN FAITH?
Abraham built his faith by praising God (Romans 4:20). Our faith also grows during trials. (1 Peter 1:7)
We grow stronger in faith when we praise God. Not fake-it-till-you-make-it praising. But genuine wholehearted praise. A believer's faith remains active through his praise life. He understands that only God deserves praises and needs to be glorified.
NO OBEDIENCE WITHOUT FAITH
If you don't have faith, you cannot obey God. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. The faith we require is authored by Jesus and not our confidence.
LOVE PRODUCES FAITH
If you don't love God, you cannot obey God. Jesus said, if you love me, keep my commandments. Love produces the faith to obey God's word. Or submit to God's word. (Galatians 5:6)
Every step we take by faith keeps us in the victory we've received at the cross. In obedience to Christ alone, there is eternal life.
Obedience isn't following a set of rules. It is love in action. Love Jesus, love life.
Maranatha, praise God, and Amen!
