How To Overcome Depression As A Believer in Christ?

How to overcome depression? Or What is the medicine for depression?

Every single person in the world at some stage in life or at every stage since birth has to face trials and temptations that test their limits. Even a believer, of the Creator of the heavens and the earth, needs to go through various kinds of sufferings.

What’s the difference between a believer and a non believer going through this life? One has Jesus, the other is yet to meet the King of kings.

Sometimes we do not know why we feel sad because of living a busy life. We begin to lose interest in almost everything. It takes a toll over time. What can we do to address it? The Psalmist provides the answer.

“Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God! Now I am deeply discouraged, but I will remember you— even from distant Mount Hermon, the source of the Jordan, from the land of Mount Mizar.”

Psalms‬ ‭42:5-6‬ ‭

Two ways on how to overcome depression

  1. Praising God
  2. Remembering God (in prayer and praise)

Praise God intentionally, expectantly, believing that He has only the best for us because He fulfils what He promises.

In your troubled times remember Him immediately in prayers and praise. Get up that mountain - love and live the consecrated lifestyle God has called you into. Remember your day of salvation. Remind yourself about all the goodness of God, and praise Him.

God dwells in our praises. In His presence, there is fullness of joy. Flush out the presence of evil spirits through Praise as the river of God's presence flows into you.

Sadly, many believers do not believe in the power in praising. If only they read the Bible they would know the mighty works God did because His children praised God.

Every believer faces the challenge or attack of depression. Praise is the refuge. Those who walk with Jesus, always praise Him.

I’ve often thought, why me Lord? Why did you choose a nobody like me to reveal how awesome you are? I realised the answer was in the question itself. I’m a nobody, and that’s why God chose me. He called a nobody to be an excellent example in Jesus Christ. What a privilege.

God’s grace (Jesus) is sufficient for us. Prepare your heart to meet Jesus. Maranatha, praise God and amen.
