How To Not Be A Religious Hypocrite?
When is religion a complete failure? What’s the difference between the religious and those who love God with all their heart? One does it so God is glorified, the other, for self..
Here are three things every believer needs to keep in mind.
Giving of Alms (Matthew 6:1-4)
Do it without seeking any recognition.
1. Never do it to be seen by others
2. Do not tell everyone you meet
3. Never even tell your your own family in Christ
When you give, give cheerfully.
Prayer life (Matthew 6:5-15)
1. Pray, because God is worthy. Not to show off.
2. No point of using big words or repeating phrases to sound good
Pray in secret with a sincere heart to God. Forgiveness in action is a natural quality for those who pray.
Fasting Matthew 6:16-18)
Do not fast to show people. When we seek reward of recognition then we will miss out our reward in heaven. Never put on a sad face during fasting. Fasting is done to revive ourselves spiritually.
Do not be a religious hypocrite
These three basic aspects of faith-walk, if not followed, can easily turn believers into proud ungodly people like the Pharisees. We can read about the Pharisee in detail in Matthew 23. The true characteristics of a religious hypocrite.
The temptation to show off is a deep rooted sin problem that will not go away with theoretical knowledge. We need to receive strength to say No. Also, the sin of pride is too subtle for our human intellect to fathom. We need to break ourselves in the presence of God. Seek God in prayer to break this yoke of bondage through the power of the Holy Spirit.
A daily renewal is necessary which enables spiritual growth and freedom. The time is now to live a radical life in Christ. God’s radical love is available through Jesus. Maranatha, praise God and amen!
