How to keep good company in this world?
A wicked person enjoys the company of liars and indecent talk (Proverbs 17:4). When a believer mixes with bad company, he will lose his spiritual walk over time.
What would you expect from a wicked heart? Exactly that, a love for evil. His mouth will spout out mockery and perversion. Social Media has quadrupled the negativity. We now see our friends and relatives joining in discussions that neither edify nor encourage, forget comfort.
As conversations get deep, believers get caught in a deadly conflict of lies and fake news. Giving in, they take sides that affect their spiritual walk.
When we indulge in conversations or spend time with things that do not concern God, the outcome will be evil or wasteful. Everything we do requires it to stand on the narrative of the word of God.
Keeping good company requires Christ to be at the centre.
Jesus said, be a witness in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the uttermost parts of the world (Acts 1:8). What does it mean? We must be led by the Holy Spirit at home, in the neighbourhood, workplace, and anywhere.
Joseph's brothers pushed him to be among wicked men and liars, yet he stayed faithful. Noah, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, etc., remained devoted to their journey till the end.
We are the light of the world who speak the truth in love.
We are the salt of the earth who add taste to an unsavoury world.
Don't let your earthly company decide your lifestyle in Christ. When we keep company with Christ, aka Word and Spirit, He will influence us in ways that benefit heaven and earth. Whether at the workplace or in your personal life, God blesses all when we keep Him first place.
Stay in fellowship. Grow in godly wisdom and understanding. Jesus is coming soon. Praise God, and amen.
