How to approach the word of God as a believer?
God appointed Ezra and Nehemiah to rebuild the broken walls of Jerusalem and repair the burnt gates. After the repairs began spiritual activities. Starting with, reading from the book of law (Bible).
Since day one of creation, all God wanted from man was a sincere heart. He is still the same, yesterday, today and forever.
And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
Nehemiah chapter 8:1-12 gives us a great account of how the Israelites responded to the word of God.
What does it take to see the word of God manifest in your life?
- People gathered together as ONE. (Acts 2:1-4)
- Everyone who had a basic level of understanding heard the word of God. They were ATTENTIVELY listening.
- Stood up in ADORATION to God as the book was read.
- CRIED OUT said Amen, Amen acknowledging the word of God to be so in their lives.
- lifted their hands in surrender, in PURITY. (1 Timothy 2:8)
- bowed their heads realising their UNWORTHINESS. (Luke 18:9-14)
- worshipped face down on the ground realising His holiness, SUBMITTING to do the will of God. (Isaiah 6:1-7)
- They were GRIEVED in their hearts as they realised how they had gone far away from God. (Acts 2:37)
- A great FEAR also entered their hearts. (Acts 2:43)
- But they REJOICED knowing they were forgiven as they began to understand God's word. (Psalms 1:2)
- It prompted them to SHARE their excess with others.
