Forget The Old To Embrace The New
If you want God to do a new thing in your life, forget the old.
It's not so easy to forget the old. Some things are easily forgotten, but others can take longer. A consistent walk with God helps us overcome what can't and should get forgotten.
WHAT SHOULD WE FORGET?
Here are three things we need to forget.
Anger that hosts unforgiveness (Genesis 27:45). Only the humble can receive strength from God to overcome foolish natures like anger. You need to want to let go of the anger that causes harm.
Forget the toil and suffering (Genesis 41:51) of the past to enjoy what God is giving you now. Joseph thanked God, who helped him forget his suffering before God's word got fulfilled in his life.
Forget your Father's house (Psalms 45:10). Ruth forgot her Father's house because of the love of the Heavenly Father that drew her to Him.
WHO SHOULD WE NEVER FORGET?
God's word (Psalms 119:16), His covenant with you (Deuteronomy 4:23), and all His benefits (Psalms 103:2). Everything we have seen Him do with our eyes. The testimonies of God need to be taught to our children and children's children.
WHEN DO WE FORGET THE LORD?
When we get proud, our heart gets lifted (Deuteronomy 8:14).
God does not forget the prayer of the humble (Psalms 9:12). The mother may forget the suckling child, but God will never forget us (Isaiah 49:15).
All who forget the Lord, turning to wickedness, end in hell (Psalms 9:17).
Dear brother and sister, let's forget the things we have left behind and move forward by faith in the things God has kept for us (Philippians 3:13).
Trust in the promises of God that never fails. What God says, He fulfils. Abraham did not stagger in faith after he surrendered to God's perfect word. Unbelief is a sin. Trust God and move ahead in Christ.
Jesus is coming soon. Praise God, and Amen.
