Flee for your life!
God says in a few places to FLEE. If we don’t adhere to clear instructions and separate ourselves from this world, how are we to receive fresh revelation? One: In 1 Corinthians 10:14, to flee idolatry. Promoting our own philosophies and selfish desires is hated by God. It reveals a proud character. Two: In 2 Timothy 2:22, to flee youthful lusts. Carnal relationships and earthly appetites draw us away from the presence of God into more ungodliness and evil company.Three: In context, 1 Timothy 6:11 speaks of fleeing wrong doctrines and teachings who focus on gaining material blessings instead of godliness (Beware of teachings you hear online on YouTube or TV. One can discern them only if you have a strict prayer life). Though they preach Christ, they subtly deceive you into believing you need to be rich in wealth because of Old Testament saints. We are New Testament, grace period, believers and have a higher and deeper calling and should not be carried away.“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6:10-12 Where do we go when we flee? Into the arms of Jesus in fellowship, to hide in him (Psalms 143:9). To follow righteousness, faith, love, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
