Are you having your bread and water daily?

I love bread. I love water. The combination is satisfying. Without the water, I will be dry and thirsty. Without bread, I end up hungry. Both are necessary.

And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba. - Genesis 21:14

Journeying through any wilderness is difficult. The wilderness represents the trials in this journey of life. The day when Abraham and Hagar decided to separate, Abraham gave her some bread and water for the journey. But the water finished on the way. It wasn't enough. When she called out to the Lord, He drew her to a well of water.

Beersheba is called a place of covenant, where Abraham and Abimelech took an oath. When God promises, He fulfils. All those who call out to Him will never be left thirsty.

As a believer, God gave me Jesus, the Bread of Life and anointed me with the Holy Spirit (rivers of living water).

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. - John 6:35

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) - John 7:37, 38

The New Testament believer is a Word of God + Spirit baptised believer. I can grow in the knowledge of God by studying the Bible, but without the anointing of the Holy Spirit of love (Romans 5:5), I will become proud. Knowledge puffeth up, Love edifies.

The promise of the Holy Spirit is for all those who believe in Jesus, not for non believers. When can a non believer receive? Only when he obeys the word of God heartily and becomes a child of God.

The bread of life and the water of life enables us to thrive in this wilderness journey. What happens when bread meets water? We become strengthened and go boldly forward in faith, holding onto the promises of God.
