7 Ways We Get Enslaved
Are you free as servants of God? Of the many Identities, a servant is one (1 Peter 2:16). God desires our freedom. Don't get entangled in the yoke of bondage (Galatians 5:1).
Israel was under the bondage of slavery in Egypt (Leviticus 26:13).
As spiritual believers, what kinds of slavery do we need to overcome?
WHO DO WE BECOME SLAVES TO?
Don't be a slave to man (1 Corinthians 7:23). We are purchased by the blood of Jesus. When do we become slaves of man? e.g., as debtors; (Proverbs 22:7).
We were enslaved to the elements of the world (Galatians 4:3, 5), such as boiling milk during a house inauguration. Now, through the Spirit, we are sons of God and do not indulge in earthly traditions.
Bondage of pleasures (Titus 3:3). Those who are stuck in pleasures are dead, though living in the flesh (1 Timothy 5:6). Jesus' body rested on hay when born on the earth, and nailed to the cross when he died. He did not have a roof to rest under during His life on earth.
Bondage to the fear of death (Hebrews 2:15). Adam feared when God came to the garden after he sinned by disobedience. God would come every day, but this time was different. He ended up becoming afraid of God he met daily. The Israelites became scared of the sound of a shaken leaf and fled when none pursued (Leviticus 26:36).
We become enslaved to whatever controls us (2 Peter 2:19). There are evil natures that often overcome us or rule us. Get free by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Those who sin are servants of sin (John 8:34).
In a strange land, serving (enemies) worldliness is a bondage (Jeremiah 17:4).
Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
