5 things to do to overcome the Amalekite - Part 3/3

Can there be anything better than Jehovah-Nissi himself fighting for you?

I think it's the most blessed experience for a child of God 😊 In this case victory is certain, for sure. Remember, the fight against the Amalekite isn't an easy one.

Exodus 17:10-12 - So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.

In our life's race there are enemies we have to encounter and win over. But God has promised He will fight for us. That said, there are some things we also need to do. You need to be on God's side while He's fighting for you.

The 5 things that need to be done:

1. Exodus 17:10 - To defeat the fighting Amalekite we should go to the hill. Jesus, when He was on earth, would often go to the mountain top to pray. His ministry was a great blessing because of His prayer life during the night.

On one occasion, up on the mount, His face got transfigured while praying with His disciples. The Amalekite can do nothing against praying people. Prayer is a powerful weapon given to us. Use it against this enemy.

2. Exodus 17:9 - And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand.

The Rod refers to Jesus. He is the Word. Philippians 2:16 - Holding forth the word of life; Jesus claimed victory over the devil using the Word of God. Let His Word dwell in us richly so that by it we are able to overcome the Amalekite.

3. Exodus 17:11 - When the Israelites were fighting the battle below, Moses held up his hands on the top of the hill. As long as his hands were up, the Israelites were winning. But as his hands went down, they began losing.

The Lord wants us to do the same as Moses. Lifting up of the hands is a sign of surrender. When a prisoner is taken up, he's asked to lift up his hands - meaning he has no weapons of his own. St.Paul calls himself as the Prisoner of Christ - Ephesians 3:1.

4. Exodus 17:12 - But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.

God has kept helpers, to uphold us in our life of prayer. A very good example of these helpers were Aquila and Priscilla. This couple had a good understanding of God's word. They were ready to help people in understanding the scriptures wherever required - Romans 16:3. Thus, such are people whom God has kept for us so that we don't fall.

5. Exodus 17:12 - But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon;

Until the sun went down Aaron and Hur helped Moses. For us, even Jesus bled till He shed His last drop of blood. He gave His life, rose again for us and thereby lifted us from the earth and made us to sit in heavenly places along with Him.

The night is far spent. The Day is coming. Let's continue to remain seated with Jesus so that when He comes He would take us away to be with Him forever. We need to hold our peace. Jesus will fight for us and the Amalekite will surely be defeated.
