It takes love to care

There is so much talk about love and care in the world today. Is it more talk only or can we expect a better world?

Social media feeds are constantly updated with "feel good" messages. It is so overwhelming at times that you begin to feel terrible about yourself.

Burdensome, self condemning thoughts attack the mind and leave us frustrated and depressed. Comparisons bring in anxiety which begin to cripple our hearts. The mind starts to battle with a million thoughts. A desperate need to calm down becomes impossible as a sense of restlessness takes over.

Everyone is affected in some form or the other. Technology is making life a lot more productive, but also too convenient for our passions to adjust. It takes a lot to care for others when you yourself need to break away from the conveniences of this world.

Nehemiah was the kings cupbearer. He lived an extremely comfortable life. He could have cared less about his people, the Israelites, and enjoyed the comforts that palace life was bringing him. His heart was in the right place, rooted in God’s will. His zeal for rebuilding the temple of God so that his people could once again worship together the Almighty God. A living God, not idols of stone or images.

Today, God dwells in our hearts through the Holy Spirit. No need for temples and beautifully crafted structures. Our body, though perishable is transformed into a temple when we receive Jesus as God in our lives. Through the baptism of the Holy Spirit, a supernatural infilling experience, changes our approach to the world around us.

And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. (Romans 5:5)

When Gods love is poured into our hearts, we end up caring like Jesus. Little by little, as we give ourselves up to do His will, our hearts learn to care and bring life to others.
