What is the point of human suffering during this life?

We've often questioned in our early Christian life what the point of human suffering was.

What happens during suffering? Is there any good that comes from all the suffering in our lives and around us?

Indeed! for all those who believe and suffer in Christ, there is a great consolation in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:5,7).

The point of human suffering according to the word of God

1. We learn obedience, like Jesus. (Hebrews 5:7)
2. Sore with sickness, Hezekiah cried out to God in tears. We turn to God sincerely, in tears. (Isaiah 38:1-5)
3. God revealed His power delivering Israel from Egypt. God's power manifests.
4. God is glorified. God used Daniel, Shadrach, Meschech and Abednego during the reign of a terrible King.
5. We are perfected with each passing day as we lean on Him (1 Peter 5:10)
6. Sufferings work patience in us (Romans 5:3)
7. Grow in faith (James 1:3 & 1 Peter 1:7)
8. We receive the crown of life (James 1:12)
9. Suffering according to the will of God prepares us for His coming (1 Peter 4:19)
10. The widow of Zarephath and her son, along with Elijah lacked nothing during a time of great famine.

...and lot's more.

To conclude, let's stay hopeful like Paul who encourages us to rejoice during suffering.

And not only this, but [with joy] let us exult in our sufferings and rejoice in our hardships, knowing that hardship (distress, pressure, trouble) produces patient endurance; (Romans 5:3)

Our time on earth is for a moment when compared to the eternal life we will receive in Christ Jesus. When we surrender ourselves to love God with all our heart and strength, and learn humility and lowliness of heart from Jesus, God will enable us to endure till the end.

Let's not lose focus of Jesus who started His good work in us. Lean on Jesus alone, not anyone else. Maranatha, Praise God and Amen!
