How Did Man First Lose Innocence?

It was in the Garden of Eden that man (Adam and Eve) lost his innocence. This place was actually a perfect setting that the Lord God had created for them, to have a fellowship with them. But He just had ☝️ commandment for them —

And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Genesis‬ ‭2:16-17‬

Unfortunately...!!!! Man could not continue to remain in that place of bliss, for a long period of time. There are mainly 4 reasons as to how man lost his innocence and was ultimately thrown out of the Garden:

Innocence lost, beguiled by satan

Eve was beguiled by satan, who came to her in the form of a serpent. The sweet talk of the serpent was so full of subtlety that Eve completely forgot about the only command God had given them. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 2 Corinthians‬ ‭11:3‬. Be watchful of the voices you hear in your heart!

Through Disobedience

The only commandment for them was not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Nevertheless, Eve strayed away looking at the variety of fruit trees in the Garden until she came to this particular tree and stopped [typical window shopping behaviour in women]😄 Woah!! she found out that the fruit was good for food and pleasant to the eyes... Genesis 3:6. Without hesitation, she took some of its fruit and ate; and also gave to her husband, and he also ate it!! For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Romans‬ ‭5:19‬. Through Jesus we are made righteous!

Hasty to be Rich

Word of God cautions us that we must never haste to be rich. A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent. Proverbs‬ ‭28:20‬. In the context of Adam and Eve, had they been content with whatever God had allowed them to do, they sure would have enjoyed a lot more! For us New Testament believers, lets be happy and faithful with what the Lord has given us and not be hasty to hoard riches, because the love of money is the root of all evil. 1 Timothy 6:10.

Own Works And Inventions

The Israelites in Psalms 10:36-39, went totally against God by discovering their own inventions and worshipping those things that God abhorred. On the other hand, when Adam and Eve strayed away from the Presence of God and gave room to strange voices (of the serpent) they came out with “own works and inventions” that the Lord God hadn’t asked them to. The devil convinced them that if they would eat that particular fruit, then their eyes would be opened and they would be as gods — knowing good and evil.

May the Lord help us to adhere to His command of love and live uprightly before Him.

Be blessed 💕
