Why is it necessary to react in love?

Believers are called to action love, and react in love. Often, the latter is missing.

When the Samaritans did not receive Jesus (Luke 9:53,54), the disciples, James and John, felt rejected and wanted to bring down fire from heaven to destroy them.

Jesus rebuking his disciples told them that He had come to save and not to destroy. The spirit of the disciples weren't in line with God's will. They were full of anger and murder. They were too proud walking with the Messiah, and did not even understand the one they were called to serve.

How to react in love?

How do you react to the world around you? When rejected, and despised by this world, how do you react?

A spirited person reacts out of his own passions.
A spirited person subject to the Holy Spirit reacts out of love.

To react in love, we must be full of love. Holy Spirit fills our heart with love (Romans 5:5).

The fruit of the Spirit is in operation when a believer reacts. He is full of Galatians 5:22,23.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. (Galatians 5:22,23)

Be poor in spirit

Human passion is powerful; but carnal without the knowledge of Christ. Born in sin, we are religious, not spiritually minded. To be spiritually minded, not only must we be born again, but also walk in subjection to the word of God and the Holy Spirit.

Those who love God and will enter heaven are poor in spirit.

Happy are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew‬ ‭5:3‬)

They lack the passion to do their own will because they believe they are insignificant without Jesus and can do nothing without Him. They are full of the passion of Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit in obedience to His Word.

If we claim to walk in Jesus and led by the Holy Spirit it is necessary we react in love.

When we are poor in spirit, wholly surrendered to God, when Jesus appears He will take us with Him. Maranatha, Praise God and Amen!
