When Leaders Go Astray
Bad leaders are infectious. Just like a cold, it spreads. Others get affected by it.A bad leader tries to control and dominate people. He or she feels that the best way to get work done is by driving fear into others.Often times, bad leaders tell testimonies and stories of those followers who disobeyed other leaders and how they fell into deep problems, how some even tragically died. They will misquote and twist the word of God to suit their narrative. Just so a fear is developed in children or youth to make them do some work.Bad leaders lie, will never admit their mistakes, or will find someone to blame. They love positions, and power-play. Some are deceived into believing they are doing it for God.Some boast about their training they have received from senior leaders. But, lack the necessary fruits to perform their role God has called them into. Some leaders use your personal family info to manipulate you into doing what they want to get done in the church.Leaders who do not display Godly love create a gulf between them and followers. Many youth have fallen prey to bad leaders and have left the church. Many youth end up confused and display a disgust for leadership, and constantly point out hypocrisies. Many youth feel if the leaders, called by God, are so evil how can I be saved? These are genuine problems affecting the church. Not new at all though. These issues always existed. There is nothing new under the sun.How to navigate this evil? Lean on Jesus, look at Him alone. He is our example. None else matters. Enjoy the fellowship God has gifted you. If your fellowship doctrines and teachings are against scripture, seek the Lord for the correct one.Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2)
