We pay a great price when we take sin casually
What is the power of sin? How does it affect our lives? Sin is taken casually in the world today. Sinful man revels in sin, bound by various lusts.
3 reasons why we cannot take sin casually
- Sin desires to rule over us
- Sin affects us mentally, emotionally and physically
- Sin separates us from God
Cain's lack of devotion to God brought the challenge of sin against his life (Genesis 4:5-7). He sinned and now had to overcome the challenge of sin ruling his life, and he became a servant to sin (John 8:34).
“but for Cain and his offering, He had no respect. So Cain became extremely angry (indignant), and he looked annoyed and hostile. And the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you so angry? And why do you look annoyed? If you do well [believing Me and doing what is acceptable and pleasing to Me], will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well [but ignore My instruction], sin crouches at your door; its desire is for you [to overpower you], but you must master it.”
Genesis 4:5-7
Sin drains us spiritually (Psalms 41:4) and physically (1 Chronicles 10:13). Saul’s disobedience and sinful acts led him to take his own life.
Sin separates us from the presence of God (Isaiah 59:1-3). Once we sin, evil persists, pushing us into living a worldly life.
Behold, the Lord’s hand is not so short That it cannot save, Nor His ear so impaired That it cannot hear. But your wickedness has separated you from your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood And your fingers with wickedness [with sin, with injustice, with wrongdoing]; Your lips have spoken lies, Your tongue mutters wickedness.
isaiah 59:1-3
Hold fast to God’s word in your heart and you will live an overcoming life. Do not take sin casually. Maranatha, Praise God and Amen!
