7 Reasons Why Christians Are Losing Urgency

Why is there no urgency among most saints concerning the gospel? When I say saints, I mean every believe in Christ Jesus.

Our New Testament forefathers, lived with an urgency every single day. Many tend to defend their lifestyle saying the New Testament believers lived in a time of great persecution. The truth is that the great persecution was a result of standing for the faith - spreading the word of God.

And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. ... the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Acts 2:46,47

Why is there no urgency today?

  1. Lack of vision: they’ve forgotten why God called them.
  2. Lack of purpose: don’t believe in what God has called them to do.
  3. Ignorance: they lack knowledge of the word of God.
  4. Lack of wisdom: Jesus is wisdom. No love for God’s word or the truth.
  5. Lack understanding: When God's word is not sown deep in our hearts, fear and worry take over. A hardened heart cannot grow deep roots.
  6. No realisation of God’s power and love: Walking in the fear of God helps us stay aware of our salvation. It took amazing love and God's power to pull us out from heading into hell.
  7. Lack of Holy Spirit power: their hearts are full of worldliness and unforgiving natures.

People in general, in the world, find themselves either lost or in confusion. Doing things on the go. Hoping for the best. The believer is clear about their journey in Christ. What is critical is, we need to watch and pray everyday.

Are you on track? If not, get in track now. Praise God, pray for others, meditate on God’s word, and stay in fellowship. In a moment, in a twinkling of an eye, it’ll all be over.

Maranatha, Praise God and Amen.
