The secret to life is staying humble and lowly in heart

Old natures do not magically disappear after we accept Christ. They are waiting to get back at us, find it’s old home in our hearts.

Sin is waiting at the door. Waiting to rule over us (Genesis 4:7). The devil is waiting like a roaring lion to devour people of God (1 Peter 5:8).

Moses lived in Pharaohs palace for 40 years. He grew up in worldly knowledge and luxury. He ended up killing an Egyptian because he was bullying a Hebrew. Moses was high in spirit, a charged up heart, his response was like the worldly sinful person.

The next 40 years, he was in Midian, living with Jethro. Away from the world, as a shepherd tending to Jethros flock. God testified about Moses as the meekest man on earth.

The final 40 years of his life was spent leading Israel to the promised land. Israel messed him up, nagging, complaining, disobeying, etc. Moses old angry nature caught up with him. When God told Moses to speak to the rock, he ended up hitting it twice with his stick. He could not enter the promised land, only see it from afar.

Learn from Jesus to stay humble and lowly in heart

We cannot get comfortable just because we are saved. We cannot be settled in ministry or in our walk with God. If there are two natures that needs a daily check, it’s being humble and poor in spirit.

  • Joseph displayed a great level of devotion and submission to God during his time of trial.
  • Daniel stayed calm in the midst of a decree spewed out by a careless king.
  • Esther showed great strength of character and trust in God when she faced the greatest crisis in her life.

Like Jesus who was humble and lowly in heart, let’s patiently wait for Him to take us away soon. Maranatha, praise God and amen!
