Testimony: The Blind Can Lead The Blind
After Bible Study evening, I had the privilege of listening to my local pastor speaking to a believer brother from South India. He was a blind man, from birth. His parents are blind too. He just returned from Mumbai, in Kolkata for a day, off to Delhi the next. He works in a printing press, his job is book binding. He had 12 days of medical leave which he is using for preaching the gospel to the blind.A chief pastor wrote him a letter to do this ministry, of preaching to the blind. He has been doing it since 1995. According to him over 500 blind people have been saved through his ministry.Once on a train, as he sang and praised God, a bunch of religious fanatics sitting around, asked him, what kept him happy all the time.
He said, "Jesus Christ, Saviour of mankind is the source of my joy!".
The fanatics tried discouraging him from worshipping Jesus, but failed. After a little while, one of them asked him for his ticket. Thinking it was the TT, he gave it to them. They said there is an error in the ticket and he had to get down. Next station he got down, and these fanatics tore his clothes, stripped him to his inner-wear and beat him mercilessly, leaving him at the station platform. He continued to praise God in the broken state. After sometime, a fellow Christian brother hearing him, took him home. Bathed him, fed him, bought him new clothes to wear, and set him along his journey. The blind man had a joy that was truly supernatural, these days, often not found in believers who can see with their natural eyes.So many believers live like true servants of God. Preaching and teaching being persecuted for the gospel.Well! shouldn't they? Isn't everyone called to minister and glorify God according to the grace given and vocation called? Many live in this boxed reality where they feel they are to live comfortably while their pastors and leaders suffer for Christ.I was deeply moved and humbled by his account, hope you will be encouraged too for the sake of Christ. Let us live with our spiritual eyes open, daily, to experience true joy.Sharing two references that followers of Christ need to meditate on.Romans 12:3-8 states, For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.Jesus says in Luke 4:18,19 - "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord."
