What's the point of a song according to God?
It needs to be taught to children
It is a witness of God's love and truth
When evil attacks, a song serves as a testimony of God's promises
(Deuteronomy 31:19-22)
God brought Israel into the promised land of Canaan. He also warned them about their future. Only when they abide in Him can they stay under His protection from evil. But Israel soon forgot their covenants with God.
WHY DO BELIEVERS SING SONGS?
To be reminded about the goodness of God. I've often found myself humming tunes of songs that I had forgotten. I realised with time that it is the Holy Spirit at work - edifying, encouraging and comforting me in Christ to live an overcoming lifestyle.
WHAT CAN BE SOME THEMES?
God's love and truth. Being reminded that God loves us helps us to move forward with fresh faith and hope. The truth keeps us clean and builds a strong character.
SONGS DELIVER THE SPIRITUALLY BOUND
When David sang and played the harp, an evil spirit from Saul departed. During times of trouble or when we feel burdened, a song glorifying God can lift our spirits.
Let your life be a love song to Jesus, in worship and praise to His name, love and works.
