Praying is better than engaging in political chatter

What to do when friends or colleagues only talk about politics all the time? Can we indulge? What does God say? Is it right to take sides? The verdict from God is clear.

Paul instructs Timothy on a believers responsibility towards government.

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;”

‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭2:1-3‬ ‭

Believers have access to the throne of Grace. None else have this privilege. Who else can pray, intercede, thank and supplicate, but us? Let’s focus on our strength that comes from God. God promises peace and quiet through the power of prayers.

Often secretively ambitious believers claim we need believers in high positions on earth. God is not depending on us to graduate and take up top positions to further God’s kingdom. He can raise anyone for His glory. Case in point, Gamaliel, in Acts 5:34-42. His intervention paved a way for persecutors to stay away from the apostles ministry.

Praying moves God, who, moves the government

Don’t be deceived about these matters. God has called us with a higher purpose. To save souls for mankind, and not bicker over assumptions and probabilities. Our race is certain. If God places us in government to pass good laws, do it honestly. Play your role. Like Esther. Like Daniel. If not, definitely pray. Nothing happens without God’s approval.

As the general public, we are called to be the light shining in the darkness. Shine the light of God's love as you walk in wisdom, redeeming the time. Let praying without ceasing and rejoicing evermore, be our daily state of being.

Jesus is coming soon. Praise God and Amen!
