Only the Love of God guides our expectations correctly

We often question God, “why am I going through so much problems?”. “Why is my life not improving?” etc.

The reason we question God is because we have the wrong expectations from this life.

The perfect and upright Job, lost his entire wealth, sons and daughters, and was sorely sick. As a believer with such a great testimony from God, he had to undergo tremendous mental and emotional loss, including physical suffering.

His wife, greatly frustrated by her husbands condition, tried to provoke him to curse God and die.

His friends could not recognise Job initially because the boils were so terrible. They were so troubled by his sickness that they sat quietly with him for seven days and nights.

God guides our expectations when we lean on Him

In all this, Job never sinned with his mouth against God.

“For He that will love life, And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips that they speak no guile:”

1 Peter 3:10

Job was clear about his expectations from this life. He loved God and believed that the one who gave him all the blessings had the right to take it away.

He lived a highly consecrated lifestyle, He was willing to lose all for God. Nothing was more important in his life than his relationship with God.

“And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.”

Matthew 19:29

Let’s examine our lives in the light of God’s word. Let’s set our expectations correctly. Waiting on the Lord in prayer and praise will open us up to His direction for life, and fullness of joy. Maranatha, praise God and amen!
