Lamb Among Wolves

The worldly narrative of a father protecting his daughter or a parent protecting a child is common knowledge. But there's only so much parents can do for their children. The children have a responsibility.

For example, Jacob's role to protect Dinah fails when we see Dinah's love for fashion to check out the women of Shechem end up in a great tragedy. The rules and regulations of the house could not tame Dinah's heart. On the other hand, Mordecai, Esther's Uncle, taught her the way of life where she became the saviour of Israel. Esther remained in obedience and became the saviour of Israel.

Was Jacob a poor teacher and Mordecai a better one? No. Both daughters had the same education. It's what we let into our hearts. Esther chose God, and Dinah gave her heart to worldliness.

When we see the love of the Father for Jesus, He sent Jesus as a lamb to slaughter. It was God's will.

Jesus sent his disciples as a lamb among wolves (Luke 10:3).

We are lambs among wolves as Spirit-led, Spirit-baptised believers. It is God's will.

HOW TO BE A LAMB AMONG WOLVES?

 Remember three things we need to keep in mind as a lamb among wolves;

HEAR (VOICE OF) JESUS

A lamb recognises the voice of the Shepherd. It does not respond to the voice of a stranger or hireling (John 10). Esther humbly learned about God through Mordecai and recognised what it meant to be a Jew.

KNOWING JESUS

The more you hear someone, the more you learn about them. A lamb grows to learn about the Shepherd over time. The lamb knows only the Shepherd. When hearing leads to knowing, the lamb will not listen to any other voice. Esther knew God well enough to put aside every voice of discouragement, fear or selfishness.

TRUST JESUS

A lamb that knows only the Shepherd will trust only the Shepherd. Esther grew in faith, trusting God in a heathen environment, despite marrying a vicious and powerful king and having to tackle a wicked man like Haman.

Esther was among wolves like Haman (Devil). But she heeded the voice of Mordecai (Holy Spirit) and came out victorious for the glory of God.

Dinah did her own will. Esther obeyed God.

We are lambs among wolves. Who are the wolves we face? False prophets and teachers (Matthew 7:15,16) (Acts 20:29,30). In the last days, many saints will lose their way. If you look at Jesus and desire Him alone, you'll never worry about losing your way. Pray and study the Word. God will protect, provide and preserve you till the end. Surrender to God's will.

Prepare to meet Jesus.

Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
