Knowledge plus Love

Knowledge with Love is necessary to grow in Christ. 

Without love, i.e. God's perfect love, we are nothing. Love is the foundation to grow in the knowledge of Christ. Even in eternity, love will help us grow forever in Him. 

HOW DOES ONE GROW IN KNOWLEDGE BUT NOT LOVE?

• studying the Bible turns into an intellectual exercise, and you turn into another book lover rather than people lover

• you now want to be an author or preacher to grow in knowledge without giving time to those God has placed before you for His glory

• the attention you receive is much more interesting rather than the work in love

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE GROW IN KNOWLEDGE BUT NOT LOVE? 

• We get proud and arrogant over time

• We start to neglect fellowship and prayer

• find ourselves in debates and discussions more than God's praise and worship

Man got tempted to grow in knowledge outside of God's prescription. He got arrogant eventually and failed to show up in God's presence. 

When we keep God's word, He perfects His love in us. His love powers us forward. Love keeps us humble, in the fear of God, as we realise God's love and power. 

"... knowledge puffs up, but love edifies." (1 Corinthians 8:1)

Be careful not to reduce God's word to mere philosophical delights. Give room for the Holy Spirit to pour love into your heart so you truly care for others. 

Get ready! Jesus is coming for you.
