Keep Up With Jesus
Have you ever heard the phrase "Keep up with the Joneses"?
The phrase has come to, more broadly, to describe any situation in which people feel the need to compete with their neighbours or peers to maintain a certain social status. It can lead to people spending more money than they can afford, taking on debt, and neglecting their own needs to keep up with the Joneses.
When we don't keep up with Jesus, we compare lives, or compete with others. A man without God has false benchmarks in life. A man with God lives His unique life through Jesus alone.
What does it mean to keep up with Jesus?
It means not dropping the standards set by Jesus for your life to lower human thinking and an effort-based lifestyle.
HOW TO KEEP UP WITH JESUS?
Stay focused on the new commandment God has given you. To love others as He has loved you.
Grow in faith in the last days. Jesus asks the question: Will I find faith when I come? (Luke 18:8)
Desire the holiness of God without which you will not see God (Hebrews 12:14)
Keep doing the will of God. It is the only way on earth to heaven.
This list can go on. But we must set our affections on things above for a smooth transition from earth to heaven.
Comparisons kill. When we stay heaven-minded, we'll remain Jesus-focused. There will be no time for looking at anyone else.
When we don't keep up with Jesus, we give in to the cares, riches and worldly pleasures. The very areas Jesus mentioned will go against us when He comes.
Be smart. Keep up with Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
