Humility Is A Choice That Reaps A Great Reward
Humility is a choice that can be learned, its effect on us raises our standard of giving. When man humbles himself, God works on his behalf.
The repentant thief feared God. He recognised Jesus as the saviour of the world in his dying moments (Luke 23:39-43).
The mocking thief is a complete contrast. He mocked Jesus, and he was only thinking for himself. He had no remorse for what he did. Instead of humbling himself like the other thief he revealed his wicked heart.
Jesus saves the repentant thief. He leaves the mocking thief unanswered. Leaving him to his choice of staying in wickedness and in-admission of wrong.
Both the thieves had the opportunity to save their souls. Only one chose to humble himself before the King of king’s.
Humility is a choice that powers you to give
Zacchaeus was a sinner, a wicked man who duped people off their money. But, when he humbled himself, salvation entered his house! Though Zacchaeus deeds were ungodly, his desire for the truth set Him free from all his evil deeds. He returned fourfold to those who he had falsely dealt with.
The freedom of his soul impacted him greatly that he was willing to learn from the humility of Jesus who being King of kings chose to stay at his home. Such is the power of salvation on a sinner who humbles himself.
He was a man who loved money, but he recognised the value of saving his soul which was greater than all the wealth he could ever get. Zacchaeus was a rich man after all!
Look at the cross of Calvary. There is redemption and rest for all those who humble themselves. May the Lord help us stay humble everyday. In Christ, we will be humble everyday. Maranatha, praise God and Amen!
