How to strengthen your mind?

Hello there!

So here we are again learning the 3rd aspect of preserving oneself from the enemy.

We discussed earlier, to keep your walls, followed by how to watch the way. The next is to make your loins strong.

1 Peter 5:8 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

MAKE YOUR LOINS STRONG - Nahum 2:1

In order to escape the onslaught of the devourer we need to gird our loins. In the Scripture, what does "loins" stand for? See what Peter says in 1 Peter 1:13 - Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind...

Yes dear brother/sister, our minds are referred to as "loins". They need to be girded. Elijah girded up his loins in the literal sense. The hand of the Lord came upon him. Only then could he run up to Horeb - The Mount of God. 1 Kings 18:46. The hand of the Lord will lift us up - Ezekiel 8:3 - ... and took me by a lock of mine head.

Samson had 7 locks of hair on his head and that was the secret of his strength. In the Word of God, locks refers to consecration or being separated for God. As long as he had them he was strong and unbeatable. But once the locks were cut, he became an ordinary man. He lost his power. Samson gave in to the lure of Delilah, his mind and heart was intoxicated with lust which cost him his strength. Therefore, the consecration of our mind and heart will keep us from falling into diverse lusts. God is pleased with purity, and lifts all those who rely on Him during temptations.

Now, how does one make the loins strong? Here's the answer. Isaiah 11:5 - And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins. This verse is a prophecy concerning Jesus and we desire and pray to become like Jesus as well. For this to happen the loins of our mind should be girded with the righteousness and the faithfulness of God. This means being obedient to every call of God.

Also, Ephesians 6:14 says, Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth... No lie should be found in us. Where lie is, fear is present too. In order to cover the lies, fear envelops the heart. Lying and fearing are interlinked. But if truth is present in the heart there is no fear. There is strength, a freedom to express freely. We must speak the truth in love. And this love is shed abroad in our hearts through the Holy Spirit - Romans 5:5.

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth - 3 John 1:4. The Lord has given us the Word of Truth and the Spirit of Truth. Therefore let us remove every lie and gird the loins of our minds with truth. Let's make ourselves strong in Jesus.

Be blessed!
