How To Reprove A Man Of God?
Paul exposed Peter, publicly admonishing him for siding wrongfully with the Jews. Strangely, these passages of scripture are hardly brought up by some ministers because it reveals their shortcomings.
Paul never hesitated to set right another apostle if necessary. “Oh no, is he going against a minister of God” this kind of statement has wrecked the Christian world; where admonishing is restricted only to the flock.
The word of God admonishes us and encourages us to admonish those going out of the way. The erring believer (minister or member) must be admonished so they grow in line with God’s heart.
To reprove a man of God, be a man of God
It takes a heart full of goodness and knowledge to admonish one another. Both are essential because love and truth go hand in hand.
Personally I am convinced about you, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, amply filled with all [spiritual] knowledge, and competent to admonish and counsel and instruct one another.
Romans 15:14
Jesus loves us. He gently reproves us so we can repent and be changed.
Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I rebuke and discipline [showing them their faults and instructing them]; so be enthusiastic and repent [change your inner self—your old way of thinking, your sinful behavior—seek God’s will].
How should we accept reproof? Yes, this is a critical aspect of our walk with God. Walking in the right attitude. The right attitude being, love. Reprove a man of God in love; and readily receive in love to change for the better.
Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.
Psalms 141:5
Fire up your heart with the power of His love. Jesus is coming soon. Praise God and Amen!
