How to receive victory from our enemies?

God not only promised a victory from our enemies but a rest too. We have a captain in Jesus who fights our battles. Now, is it fair to expect Him to fight for us while we walk in disobedience, no right?

“But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the Lord your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;” Deuteronomy‬ ‭12:10

When we remain in the place where God desires, He ensures our safety. God is a promise keeping God. Can God's desires for us be less better for us? of-course not! He is God, He only has the best interests for us. Who knows us better than ourselves, God alone. Jeremiah, the prophet, said it best, "the heart is desperately wicked, who knows it?"

To get victory from our enemies, what can we do?

I want to highlight three ways for us to stay safe from the enemy.

Please remember, our enemies are not mortal human beings. As believers, we are called to love and forgive all human beings. But, hate the enemy, which is the devil, spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:10-20).

Turn to God to receive victory from enemies

“Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55:7‬ ‭

Turning to God from wicked ways or worldliness will bring us the desired victory. Our thoughts matter to God. What are we thinking? How should we think? Philippians 4:8 teaches us how to think everyday.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Remove strange gods, idols

“Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the Lord God of Israel. And the people said unto Joshua, The Lord our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.” ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭24:23-24‬ ‭

Whatever is an idol in our life, must be put away. It could be a person, place, product, promotion (self) or anything we crave more than God. God needs us to be completely inclined to Him for us to receive victory from our enemies.

Prepare your hearts for victory

“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.” Daniel‬ ‭1:8‬

Inclining our hearts to God is only the beginning of a life-transforming experience. We must move from the wayside heart stage to the good and perfect heart stage. No doubt at all requires a complete surrender of the spirit, soul and body.

“A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”‭‭James‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭

Let's not keep ourselves from living the great life God desires from us. Renew your relationships and relook at how you've been living this life. Love God whole heartedly and live in victory, in Jesus name!
