How To Overcome The Words Of The Serpent?

What do you listen to? What are the words entering your being? Who are you spending time with? Whether offline or online, our company matters.

The serpent managed to convince Eve, who managed to convince Adam. What does that have to tell about Adam? God spoke to him, and told him, not to eat off that tree. The message was clear.

What believers forget is that the serpent was friendly and spoke like he was speaking the words of God. If you find your entertainment on TikTok or social media then you are setting yourself for dilution. Social media and online websites have convincing content. Remember, the Satan presents itself as the angel of light.

Engage with the words of God to overcome the words of the serpent

In Nehemiah 8:13, the fathers (heads) of the household got together to study the word of God. The word of God was necessary. It was a delight to all those who heard.

- Samson fell into a trap he invited by engaging with Delilah
- The man of God was killed because he ended up listening to a false prophet. Had he stuck to God's word to him, he would have been alive.

The word of God builds in us a sure foundation. If we are not convinced by God, our foundation will crack open. When we spend time watching fake “good” videos or motivational text which only sounds like God’s word but isn’t, we set ourselves up for a fall. We dilute our spirit man with emotions rooted in worldly love and care.

What we need is a disciplined setting which allows us to immerse ourselves mentally (Truth) and emotionally (Spirit) - found only in God's presence.

It’s impossible to grow in faith if we find enjoyment in the things of the world. Let God’s word be our only delight. Look up, our redemption draws near. Maranatha, Praise God and Amen!
