How To Overcome The Evil We Face Every Day?

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Matthew 6:34

Why did Jesus say there is sufficient evil for the day?

What is this sufficient evil we face every day?

Most young believers think as long as I don’t get into a fight or fall sick, everything is fine. Or because something untoward does not happen in the day, we feel it's been a great day. I agree, those are good indicators, but they are external only.

There is something that’s happening inside of us. It's no ordinary battle, it's the most deceptive battle that targets our soul. Most believers are ignorant about the daily spiritual battle we are in.

What's the evil we face every day?

Jesus said the eye is the light of the body (Matthew 6:22,23), what does it mean? What we expose ourselves to daily will either fill us with light or darkness. In the 21st verse, Jesus reminds us of the treasure we are really seeking.

Most Christians are found spending more time watching TV or indulging in worldly entertainment which eventually dilutes their walk with God. Whatever we watch today is far more manipulative than ever before. Media and Technology today target the heart of men.

There are earthly treasures and heavenly treasures. What are you seeking in your heart? We cannot have two Masters, either money or God (Matthew 6:24). The riches of this earth will get corrupted but heavenly riches remain forever. What we treasure in our hearts, we pursue daily offline and online.

"Give us this day our daily bread" is what God wants us to meditate on day and night. Pray without ceasing. Praise God even while doing routine work. Labour for eternal life.

Treasure Jesus to be found in His eternal glory. Get ready, Jesus is coming soon. Praise God and Amen!
