How To Keep Yourself From Speaking Evil?
To grow in any relationship, the topmost need is to save yourself from speaking evil.
“If you cannot say anything good, do not say it at all.”
I've often heard people share it as advice. I agree with it to the extent that it needs to include the truth, irrespective of how hard it may sound or make one feel.
Who is good? How can we speak in a good way? To understand what all kinds of good is, God speaks to us through His word.
How should we speak good and stop ourselves from speaking evil?
I'd like to share a small list of big ways to stop speaking evil.
1. Aim to edify rendering grace to the hearers. (Ephesians 4:29)
2. Desire to encourage one another daily for the day of Christ (Hebrews 3:13)
3. As we are comforted by God on a daily basis concerning many matters, we need to comfort others by the comfort we receive from God (2 Corinthians 1:4)
4. Stay focused on maintaining peace with one another (Mark 9:50)
5. Keep your heart pure because out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Matthew 12:34)
6. Speak words that are good, based on the word of God, because God will then help preserve the relationship (Leviticus 2:13)
7. Every believer desires to grow in Christ. The outcome of such desires will always be a choice to speak the truth in Love (Ephesians 4:15)
God is good. Only He is good. Whatever we say (and do), will be from God if we are rooted and grounded in Him. When we patiently wait in Christ, our hearts will be directed in the love of God. Be careful of the hasty spirit that pushes to speak quickly. Examine every thought and word before you speak it out.
Speak the heart of God. Prepare yourself for His soon coming. Praise God and Amen!
