How To Be An Example?
Be an example, not a sample.
All believers are called to be examples. Jesus is the example set before us by God.
If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you (John 13:14, 15).
Peter, the then unlearned and ignorant disciple, now an apostle, encourages us to follow Jesus. Did Peter display power and strength that was his own or as one that came from God?
For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: (1 Peter 2:21)
We cannot be examples on our own strength or own ideas. Everything comes from the Father in heaven.
The words we need to speak, the strength for gifts and talents to manifest all comes from the Holy Spirit. Isn’t it wonderful? This life in Christ has nothing to do with our abilities or how good or talented we are; it’s not about us, but Jesus in us.
What do we need to do to be an example?
Learn from the humility and the lowliness of heart Jesus displayed in His walk on earth.
We need to shed the carnal conditioning that teaches us to “be yourself”, to “stand up for your rights”, to “protest”, to do what the worldly do. As believers we do not belong to this earth anymore. We are strangers, eagerly awaiting our exit in God’s time, however He chooses our end (Jeremiah 29:11).
What rights did Jesus stand for on earth? None. He lived daily to do the will of the Heavenly Father.
It’s necessary we learn humility and lowliness of heart from Jesus. Be spiritually minded; burdened for the things of heaven. Jesus is coming soon, praise God and amen.
