Finding refuge in God's word helps us overcome deception
The enemy is very convincing, and cannot be handled with our level of intelligence or (meagre) human experience.
The enemy is the devil, not humans. The devil fills the heart of man to think, say, and do evil deeds. The devil can use any human being to cause problems.
Essentially, the devil does the following against us;
- Twists the word of God to directly attack our thought life. Social conditioning occurs when we are influenced by those we hang about. Social Media today is being used as a deadly weapon to shift mindsets. Eve was approached by Satan. Today, the devil puts thoughts into our minds to derail our walk with God.
- Triggers emotional experiences to provoke the flesh into various lusts. Seductive pictures, pornographic imagery, captivating writing, and eloquent speeches drive the senses.
- Drives fear and related worries to bind us from exercising God’s love. Often we find ourselves bound in negative thinking for long periods. Mulling over matters we have no control over, instead of praying. Instead of searching the word of God, prayerfully, we give into unnecessary thinking.
How can we overcome these three major devices of the devil?
We need the everlasting word of God.
Jesus identified Satan as the “father of lies”. He’s a schemer, manipulator and wicked in all his ways. The devil is excellent in lying, which means, unless we aren’t immersed in Jesus, the truth, we will not be able to discern the lies.
The devil can use anyone in your life. Trust only Jesus, love all. Walk in wisdom so every word you speak renders grace. The devil used Eve, to bring Adam down. When we do not honour our relationships in Christ, we end up giving in to another’s weaknesses. We forget we are dust.
The day of Christ is near. Prepare to meet Jesus. Maranatha, Praise God and Amen.
