An Eternal Soldier Lives With An Eternal Purpose
A young boy prepared for the army, navy, and airforce and got rejected at the interviews. Each time he was asked if there was someone in the family who was already in service - his answer was "No". He got rejected in all the interviews, even though he did well in all the exams.
To prepare for each of these exams, he disciplined his life so he could get into his dream job. He believed that serving the country was the highest honour in life. He maintained top physical health and followed every rule to the T.
He lost a few years applying for these exams and decided to get into the usual grind. He entered into a post-graduation and, within a year, picked up the smoking habit. Life is no more as exciting. He is now dragging himself through life. A few years ago, he had accepted Christ as his personal Saviour. But nothing moved him anymore, like pursuing a career in the forces.
When we lose purpose, we lose our drive for life.
God had called him into an eternal army, but his love for joining the forces felt more exciting. God recruited him for an eternal future, but he preferred a future built by his strength and passion.
How many believers today get led into compromising their walk with God only because they aren't able to fulfill their earthly dreams? Many readily discipline themselves for what they need in this life but end up turning the greatest calling in their life into a mere ritual.
"endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. (2 Timothy 2:3-4)
Those who commit themselves as soldiers have no time for civilian life. How much more, we, as soldiers of Christ, need to live a lifestyle separate from this world.
Commit your life to Jesus, the captain of your soul. Build your discipline to do His perfect will. Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
