A godly companion makes for a great friendship
Who makes for a good companion on earth? A godly one.
We begin making friends the moment we start walking. The first friend is carefully picked as the parents make it a point to nurture the child in good company. From our teens, and youth onwards, we experience a mix of friends and acquaintances.
The psalmist says,
“I am a companion of all them That fear thee, and of them, that keep thy precepts.”
Psalm 119:63
Who makes a godly companion according to God’s word?
- One who walks in fear and reverence to God
- God's perfect word guides their actions (2 Timothy 3:16)
Many believers make friends in the church. These friendships end up becoming worldly rather than godly over some time.
Friendships at church require a grounding based on biblical understanding.
As the psalmist says, the fear of God is necessary. How does the fear of God help? It is the beginning of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding from above. Not of this earth. Those who walk in godly fear are aware of His love and power. We identify as God’s children called to live like Him. Elected to walk in His power, together, as the body of Christ.
Sound doctrinal understanding and instruction are necessary to build a life in Christ. God designed every with a purpose. Jesus is the chief cornerstone, and the apostolic faith is the foundation for every New Testament believer. We are a new creation. The new creation necessitates new principles and values.
God is looking for a people who worship Him in Spirit and truth. The body of Christ is a united entity separated from the worldliness and cultures of the world.
Look up. Connect with Jesus. Let God bring together His chosen in time. Till then, walk in godly love. Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen!
