7 Ways The Tongue Is Dangerous! (Part -1)

I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me. Psalms‬ ‭39:1‬

The Word of God has detailed clear explanations as to how dangerous the tongue 👅 could be — if it isn’t examined and kept under check!! The tongue is connected with the heart ❤️ because .... “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh”. Mathew 12:34. Imagine, how careful you and me need to be in order to know what comes out our mouths!

Well then.. let’s find out the 7 ways are in which the tongue is dangerous:

1. Vain Words - Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest? Job‬ ‭16:3‬. These words were spoken by Job to his friend Eliphaz when the latter was busy comforting Job during his affliction. Unfortunately, Eliphaz’s words weren’t soothing enough to ease away Job’s suffering.

2. Grievous Words - A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. Proverbs‬ ‭15:1. Words of wise man Solomon — True!! What good can grievous words achieve if it only stirs up more anger and strife? Definitely, no good! Hence, in our daily lives, let our tongue bring forth gentle answers and pacify angry hearts!

3. Hasty Words - Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him. Proverbs‬ ‭29:20‬. Hasty words have never helped anyone. It has only caused more confusion and chaos. However, thinking before speaking have brought out the best results. Therefore let us words be always few.

4. Stout Words - Your words have been stout against me, saith the Lord. Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee? Malachi‬ ‭3:13. Stout words are words of arrogance and pride which comes out of an hard heart. There is hardly any humility in it. God’s grace can be received only when we humble ourselves because God grants His grace to the humble.

5. Enticing Words - And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words. Colossians‬ ‭2:4‬. The serpent beguiled Eve by enticing her — it cast doubt in her mind, making her go against the only command God has given them in the Garden of Eden. Those fatal enticing words made Adam and Eve to disobey God’s commandment.

6. Flattering Words - For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloak of covetousness; God is witness: 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭2:5‬. Here St.Paul is assuring the Thessalonian congregation regarding his approach to them. God hates flattering lips; and so as children of God we must be very careful in this aspect. The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things: Psalms‬ ‭12:3‬.

7. Feigned Words - And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. 2 Peter‬ ‭2:3. To feign means to pretend/make something up!! As children of the Heavenly Father, let’s examine our own lives and see if words of make-believe are there in us or not!

Let’s ask the Lord to forgive and cleanse us with His precious Blood so that our lives are once again pleasing to Him. (..... to be continued)
