7 Ways Of Seeking God In Our Everyday Lives! Part-1

The Hebrew word for “Seek” is known as Darash. Darash means to seek diligently. The Scripture encourages us to seek, because all those who have sought diligently and wholeheartedly, have found whatsoever they sought for. Here are a couple of verses:

• And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah‬ ‭29:13‬
• Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Matthew‬ ‭7:7-8‬

Moving on... let’s look at the 7 ways of seeking the Lord in our everyday lives:

Seek with the whole heart

When we seek God wholeheartedly, we will surely find Him. Cornelius, the centurion was wholehearted in his search for God. He was not only a devout man, but also someone who helped the poor in many ways. Acts 10:1,2. His search wasn’t futile, because he found what he was seeking. But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. Deuteronomy‬ ‭4:29‬

Seek when He is near

To seek Him while He is near also indicates/points to a time when He will be far. This means NOW is the time to seek Him, because by doing so, He will definitely be found. Judas Iscariot, one of the 12 disciples of Jesus, was busy with the job of a treasurer than learning from His Master. He was so caught up in his work that he realised he was betraying his Master for 30 pieces of silver, very very late! Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Isaiah‬ ‭55:6‬

Set oneself to seek

When King Jehoshaphat was told that the Moabites and Ammonites together with some Meunites were coming up against him to battle; he became very afraid. He knew he did not have the strength to face this big an army. What did he do then? And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. 2 Chronicles‬ ‭20:3‬. The king and the whole of Judah, including their little ones, wives and children, stood before God and pleaded for help. They sought Him and they were helped greatly with a big victory. 2 Chronicles 20:14-30.
