4 Spiritual Garments We Need In This Life
In the Garden of Eden - Adam and Eve realised they were naked, after disobeying the ☝️ commandment God had given them. Well, God had given them the permission to eat any fruit they liked in the garden except; the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil [Genesis 2:17]
Until the day they kept this commandment, Adam and Eve enjoyed a close relationship with their Creator. God came down into the Garden each evening and spent time with them. Unfortunately, this sublime relationship couldn’t last long😔
The one thing they were told not to do was first done by Eve. She fell for the deceiver’s words [Genesis 3:6] and thereafter she along with Adam ate the fruit and thus they went against God.
Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings. Genesis 3:7
Inspite of their disobedience, God their Loving Creator did not abandon them. The fig leaves that they sewed as coverings for their loins, began drying and fading as the day grew. God saw this and He made them garments of animal skins, which would stay longer. [Genesis 3:21]
We have been also given spiritual garments which needs to be preserved. Let’s see what they are:
4 spiritual garments we need to preserve in this life
1. Garments of Salvation - [Isaiah 61:10] This is given to us when we are saved. When we confess, repent for our sins and forsake them, God saves us and gives these garments to us.
2. Robe of Righteousness - This garment is given to us when we obey Him in water baptism. Jesus demonstrated this as an example to us when He Himself took water baptism [Mathew 3:15]
3. Garment of the Bride - This garment refers to the world of righteousness we do on earth. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. Revelation 19:7-8
4. Garments of the Priests - Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. [Zechariah 3:3] Filthy garments refer to living a sinful life. Joshua was given a change of garment - And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment. Zechariah 3:4
In order to meet Jesus a child of God needs to have these garments. Ask God and prepare get your clothes ready to meet Him when He comes.
