5 blessings in Escape to the Mountain! Part-2
Here’s the second part of the topic — 5 blessings in Escape to the Mountain!
Just like I had already mentioned, the 2 Angels sent by the Lord had come to the city of Sodom to rescue Lot and his family. Escape to the mountain was one of the instructions given to the family, in order to save themselves from being burnt by fire and brimstone.
On the other hand, a follower of Christ in his/her spiritual life is also instructed to run towards the mountain. From the Scriptures we understand that a mountain experience denotes having a higher standard of life spiritually. After going about a whole day’s ministry, Jesus used to spend His time praying alone in the night with the Father, on the mountain. That was the secret of His ministry while on earth!!
So then... Let’s take a look at the blessings we receive by having a mountain experience:
The mountain is a place where God provides our needs
Yes, God will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory!! Philippians 4:19. Abraham was blessed with a son when he was hundred years old. God had promised him and fulfilled the same. However, in Genesis 22:2, we see God testing Abraham to see if he continued to love Him like before. So, the Lord asked Abraham to go to the Mount of Moriah and offer his son there as a burnt offering.
Abraham obeyed and went ahead. He was implicit in his obedience to God. Of course, it was only a test for Abraham, but God proved that on the mount as well, He is well-able to provide!! On that day, instead of Isaac, the Lord God had already provided a ram for Abraham as a sacrifice of burnt offering. Genesis 22:14.

It is a place of Prayer
Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the Lord, to serve him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people. Isaiah 56:6-7.
It is a holy mountain, a mountain of prayer and holiness. The Lord resides on this house, making it a house of prayer. As mentioned earlier, Jesus used to spend the whole night praying on the Mount of Olives, after finishing His ministry during the daytim.
It is a place of building ourselves
Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the Lord. Haggai 1:8.
To build ourselves up spiritually, it is important that we go up to the mountain. As we begin to grow, the Lord will renew our vision to see things and places afar off.
And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mountain of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho. And the Lord shewed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan, And all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah, unto the utmost sea, And the south, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto Zoar. Deuteronomy 34:1-3
Only then can we be able to see the King in his beauty! Isaiah 33:17,20. May the Lord help us.
Be blessed! 💕
